Missing the dream

I am of to Toronto for 6 or so months.........which means I may not be around for harvest :( I will be heading to "the patch" to throw some nutes at the girls (so I'll grab some pics!), but doubt I will be back when they get cut down. As it stands I'm expecting about 3/4lb per plant. There is one each of white widow from Planet Wax (clone) and a shishkaberry donated 2 years ago by a fellow grower. There are more widow on a "co op" program, but I've been told they are not doing well. I also have some shish with another "co op" , I will try to get pics f these for you they are gorgeous! Grown in large (20liter) pails outdoors they are about 5 1/2' tall and easily 5' round :)
There are also a few at a spot that got ruined by skunks. There is a Lowlife Blueberry, Barneys Vanilla Kush and a DNA Cheese.

Planning Ahead

Now is the time all outdoor growers begin to pray and cross their fingers. The dreaded "weedwalkers" will be out scouting everywhere to rip you off. I'm sure there are times we wish we could set lethal traps to catch these suckers! New and affordable cameras are available (and also used by law enforcement) which can monitor your patch.
The LowLife auto blueberry I have out looks of excellent quality, but minimum quantity :(.
The single Vanilla Kush I have out will survive and may provide a decent sample of things to come.
The farm still has a shish and a widow I expect to produce some excellent smoke with. Yield should be about a quarter pound each.
One of my "co-op" partners has done very well with the shish outdoors. Nine 6 footers should be about 1 1/2 to 2 pounds/plant.

How Does Your Garden Grow

I'm getting mixed reviews from some of the growers I know. One would have thought this would be one of the best grow years in recent memory. Mother Nature seems to be providing a perfect season, sun, rain, sun and rain. From a personal point of view I have 2 small sites. One was planted very late, was subject to a lot of stress (animals) and I expect very little (watch for pics in the near future). The other site I planted one each of my white widow mothers and shishkaberry. That site appears to be doing very well, however as far as I have heard other growers crops are very small or spindly. I was fortunate enough to have formed a co op with another grower....supplying clones for a share of the crop. These girls are outdoors, but in 20 gallon pails and are receiving lots of TLC. Yields are expected to be in the 1 to 1 1/2 lbs per plant range (too bad there's only 9). Here are some pics of some of the plants that will become my next mothers, well except for 3. There are 3 "autoflower" varieties in the group. Flower Power from Barneys, Green O Matic from Greenhouse, and AK47 from Lowlife. Others in the pics include: Vanilla Kush (Barneys), Frisean Dew (Dutch Passion), Cheese (Dinafem), and Mamma Mia (Serious)

Mother Nature at work

Visited my garden spot recently. I had 13 seedlings planted, 2 auto blueberry, 2 flower power, 2 vanilla kush, 2 white widow, 2 shishkaberry, 2 auto AK47 and a Dew. Ten were DUG UP! Turns out skunks have a fancy for grow pucks, little bastards destroyed them. We have replanted a VK and a Dew, spread soap and dog hair around, and crossed our fingers.
On the lighter side I still have a couple on the "farm", and I have 2 growers I supplied clones to for a piece of the action. There is no way I'm expecting less than 3-5lbs this year.......keep checking the blog to follow my progress.

Seeds and more seeds

Since getting my account with Seedman I have been salivating over the thoughts of having a huge variety of the world's best weeds! So with great anticipation I placed my first order (over$300). Some were being sold others planted. I was anxious to try the autoflowers and especially Barneys Vanila Kush and Frisian Dew (Dutch Passion). I learned an expensive lesson. I used regular tap water to enlarge the pucks, turns out my tapwater sucks. Germination rates were greatly affected, so let that be a warning to all of you, spend a couple of bucks in making sure your water s balanced ;) We proved it was the water by planting new seeds, and my germination rates went from 50% to 100!

Been A Long Time

Haven't made the time to post in a while, sorry to all. I placed a few seed orders and have had a few lessons learned the hard way. Here are some of the "babies" you'll be hearing about. I decided to try autoflowers and purchased from Barneys Farm, LowLife and Greenhouse. Strains include Flower Power, AK47, Blueberry, and Green-O-Matic. Other varieties of feminized seeds I picked up are: Cheese, Vanilla Kush, Frisean Dew, and Mamma Mia. All are intended for the great outdoors, even though we are in mid July. Pokerstars has started their SCOOP tournaments, and you may remember I won entry through a bloggers freeroll. ell on May 2nd I joined 9632 others to compete for the prize pool of $2m. I believe I ended up 486th (top 5%!) which paid me $600, pretty good for a freeroll. Top prize was $280k....thanks PokerStars.

Exciting Spring

Ever have one of those years? You pick out a couple of seed varieties, drop your hard earned money down through the internet and eagerly await your seeds. They arrive in perfect condition, sprout and become some of the most beautiful plants you've ever seen. You carefully select a few key area's offering your babies all they need. Throughout the summer you visit to feed and water, but are careful to cover your tracks. Just before harvest your salivating thinking about your soon to be smoked buds. Then it happens.....weedwalkers have found your stash!
Here's a way to possibly beat them, and the police. Consider autoflower varieties, especially feminized. Think about it. From seed most autoflower varieties are 60-75 days to harvest, under any light conditions. Grant it your yields are lower (an average of 45 grams per plant), but there's the stealth of early maturity, and the fact the plants are usually around 1 foot tall.
Lets say you order 30 Lowryder #2 (you can get them at http://www.buzzon.ca/ :)), they are $135 per 10 pack. Total investment $420 with shipping (that number a coincedence?). Sow 10 seeds indoor mid May, plant at the end of May, at the same time sow 10 more. Two weeks later plant your second set and sow your third (which you will plant 2 weeks later). This gives you a harvest at the end of July, mid August and the end of August. Consider all seeds germinate (and you get average yields) thats roughly 3 lbs for $420!

If you are following the blog you know I ordered seeds from Nirvana. Well I'm not happy! 6 of 10 actually germinated, a 40% failure rate when seed are $10 a pop doesn't thrill me. To make matters worse they keeled over and died!!! I have contacted Nirvana (I have doubts about the quality of the seeds), and have not received a response. So despite the fact they ship quickly and include cool free things, they appear useless at customer service and very dissappointing for quality. I will be making a trip to Montreal to check out the seed bank and place an order, stay tuned for details.

Well it's been a little while since a lot has been going on. The Shishkaberry was an instant hit! The plant in the closet yielded about an ounce of the nicest bud I've smoked in a while. There's a certain satisfaction that comes from smoking your own weed, and when it turns out this good, it's a bonus. Five lucky friends got to sample her with us, here's the overall review. Being that the Shishkaberry is a hybrid she did exhibit some stretching, but we were also using a MH 400w when we should have been using a HPS. The buds were VERY resinous (see pictures below) and the taste was a wonderful wild berry that stayed for about 1/2 after smoking. The high was mostly cerebral, and gave a good little rush when first smoked. Lasting about 2 hours and with a quick "comedown" affect (though we try hard to avoid that one :) this baby will definitely be a staple in the garden this spring.
Next blog will be about the White Widow, stay tuned for my review of Nirvana as well (they are not in my good books at the moment) as well as a major announcement for the BuzzOn site.

Is it time yet?

It's been way to long since I posted and a lot has happened. I'm surprised to see I've lost my "zest" for online poker. I just can't stay focused enough to play...maybe it's time to move on.

The closet has come a long way (see photo's). We took down the Shish at week 9, but have let the Widow continue. Shish is drying on a rack and should yield about an ounce dry. The aroma of the Shish is incredible and stinks the whole house. The glands are everywhere and this will be one sweet smoke in about 5-6 days. The buds on the widow are looking tasty and it's all I can do to not want to take her down now......

The "babies are looking good! Week 7 has just finished and the Widow is filling out wonderfully. Can't wait to get some of these in the ground this spring The Shishkaberry has been stinking up the house for weeks now. The Nirvana seeds I planted are toast, they all died from lack of attention I think. Thankfully I hadn't planted them all at once. Second round will be monitored a lot more closely......costly mistake.

Ever have one of those days?!?

So the last post I was in a Pokerstars tourney, and I imploded :p Totally lost focus and blew it....(maybe I should have tried a bong?). Sunday however there was another main event SCOOP freeroll and with doobies in hand and my lovely lady at my side I felt ready. Logged in only to find there were 3000 + people :O Stuck it out and with the help of some really smooth hydro I made it to 36th! Earned $215 in SCOOP tickets (what the hell is SCOOP, and btw Pokerstars, when does this years SCOOP start?). Anyway thats my poker triumph for the week.
Now the downside.
Planted six of the Nirvana seeds and they all germinated. Problem is I left them in a room at 90 degrees and no water for a day....hoping I can still save 1 of each, sure glad I kept 2 seed of each for backup.

Nirvana Order

The seeds I ordered from Nirvana arrived! Overall from the day I walked into the bank to the day they arrived at my door was 2 weeks, which I would consider more than fair. Each 5pk of feminized was labelled (see photo), the free seeds though seem more a gimmick than anything. Without knowing the breed, or if they are feminized, makes it hard to want to invest time in germinating them.....maybe I'll scatter them on the courthouse lawn? ;) The packaging was interesting. The seeds came in a bubblepack envelope, inside a Nirvana cotton/hemp wallet (bonus) with a return address in the Netherlands. The return address is (I believe) the actual "store" in Haarlem.

Blog Poker

In honor of the PokerStars blogging tourney (see sidebar) this post will be only poker. The $50 live tourney I mentioned.....I showed up on the wrong night (I will say no more). I'm looking forward to going to the OLG Casino to play in the weekly tourney next Tuesday, check back to see if I make it :)
Online my playing has been limited to Pokerstars (by choice). I was very impressed with the speed (and lack of hassle) involved with withdrawals. I can't say the same about Hollywood, if you have any comments on cashouts I'd love to hear them

Its In The Mail

Nirvana has confirmed that they received my transfer and my seeds are on the way! This certainly was what I had hoped, 7 days (including the weekend) not bad considering I was sure my bank screwed up.
Marijuana-NL seeds have also contacted me about a new strain they have developed "Golden Nugget". Two years in the making! Keep watching to see how the order I place with them goes.

Nirvana Test

I placed an order for feminized seeds with Nirvana. The 2 strains I chose are Bubbliciuous and BlackJack, both described as medicinal strains. The order was placed Jan 8, you can follow the progress and review of the seed here on the blog. Funny but the bank I use gave me a relatively hard time when I went in to do the money transfer. It cost more for the transfer ($25) than the shipping from the UK? Banks .....always making money

Closet Space

I have swung my mother plants to a 12/12 cycle under a 400w MH. It seems many people will clone from a mother until the plant is nothing more than a spiny vine. I am trying something a little different. I have only taken 2 clones from each of my "mothers" thereby making them subject to less stress. We'll see how it turns out. Hope everyone is having a blast and Santa left a few nice nugz :) You know you're getting old when you start receiving bud from your daughter on special occasions. Christmas was great in our household, and I'm hoping you all the same. The closet is now on bud, word is getting out about BuzzOn, and tomorrow is a big poker tourney with a $50 buy in. I feel like I'm in heaven. The only downer on the horizon is the FRO. FRO, for those who don't know, is the Family Responsibility Office. They are the ones who control child support and chase down "deadbeat" dads. This has to be one of the most poorly run organizations in Canada. Unfortunately they can completely devestate someone's life. I intent to revive my "FRO Must Go" blog and would encourage anyone on that sytem to visit and post comments.

Without meaning to I lied. A lot has gone on this week and I haven't made a post. Signed up for a $50 live tourney (Boxing Day), I'm sure I'll have a story on that one. I've also swung my mother plants under a MH light and have them on a 12/12 cycle. I've read that 2 days of darkness helps to "prep" the plants so I tried that first. Because I have limited space I only took 2 clones off each plant, this should minimize the stress as well. Watch for pictures as they develope.
I also said goodbye to my grandmother Nanny Labelle. She was one of the sweetest people I ever met. It's funny how our own mortality comes to mind. She was my last "grand" parent, it all seems to bring reality a little closer. One more generation then.......

Seeds for FREE!

My seed experiment is complete! I have used a male super silver haze and mated it with a female white widow (both purchased from Planet Wax). The result was 75 good looking (and hopefully viable) seeds. I will give away 45 (4x10 and 1 x 5) to the first 5 people who send me an email requesting them from my BuzzOn site. There is, as always, a catch. I would request photo's as they progress and a report card be filled out and emailed to me as you go (I would like to monitor the strain as it progressess). Of course once you have the seeds they are yours, but your help would be appreciated.

The seed are a white widow female I have pollinated with a super silver haze male. I anticipate about 30-40 seeds. New Poker Pals

Well over the past couple of weeks I've had the opportunity to get together a couple of times and play live poker. None of us have oversized bankrolls, so we play $5 sit and go's. It's hard to beat the entertainment value you get from $20 and some friends around a table. As much as I love live play, after being online so much it seems deadly slow. I had also forgotten how long it can be between games if you bust out first :(
RAW DEAL......after training for 16 hours in a taxicab to get a job I was refused a licence by the local police. Seems my 13 year old conviction for assault makes me a danger to the public. Of course for the low, low fee of $200 I can purchase a pardon. As we all know once you give the government money you're safe again. No really, it seems if I pay $200, get my pardon, I can re apply and then for the low fee of $75 I'm no longer dangerous. Is it just me or is something wrong here?

Still Catching The Buzz

BuzzOn has been consuming a lot of my time lately! I've even slowed down on poker :) Which reminds me for anyone playing on Full Tilt..............collude over the phone and don't play small stakes! It seems if you have more than one person on the same IP playing poker (on Full Tilt at least) you are considered suspicious. I mean really...more than 1 person per IP???? In this wireless world who doesn't have multiple computers accessing the same internet connection? And as for collusion....it's more highly organized and much more sophisticated than people sitting around a room on multiple computers discussing hands. How does Full Tilt deal with dorms? And since you can NEVER speak to a human at Full Tilt you are at their mercy once you accept their terms and conditions. Overall the skin is nice, there are plenty of people to play (second biggest as far as I can tell), but the customer service sucks and the illusion of security is just that...an illusion. I have seen students play 9 seat cash tables, the collude by occupying 6, they coordinate plays by phone or text (man they can text fast), and usually play stakes of $10-$20 limit or $1-2 no limit (they are still after all students :).

There are now 2 seed banks available on my site BuzzOn. There is Nirvana, who has exceptional pricing and Marijuana-NL, known for their quality genetics. You have a choice between dealing directly with Nirvana (they post Canadian $ prices) or ordering through my NL catalogue. These pictures are from NL seeds I germinated. They are Super Silver Haze and White Widow. I am currently mothering a Shishkeberry as well. The look, smell and taste of the Shish is to die for, it's a heavy buzz and the smell even in veg is....well.....wonderfully stinky:)

Almost there

The site is almost ready. We now have a seed supplier from the UK, and you can download a Word doc showing some of the strains....no feminized on the list yet but give me time.

The outdoor plants I had got........relocated shall we say. I had the misfortune of one of my plants reaching 7' and I think it got spotted. That lead to my other 5 getting spotted, three of which were stolen (all 3 were purebred widows which had started to bud). Then there was the adventure of trying to get the other 3 home........but thats another day. Here's some pics before they disappeared.

Allrighty then. After a brief........sabbatical I'm back to crazy :)
